Description
The ZS3 records HD motion pictures at a smooth 60 frames per second together with 1280x720-pixel resolution. It uses the AVCHD (MPEG-4/H.264) format via AVCHD Lite, which stores less data than other formats and like so lets you shoot extra minutes of HD motion pictures before running out of memory.The ZS3 is equipped together with an HDMI output terminal for direct transmission of digital image and sound signals. Just connect the camera to an HDTV utilizing a single HDMI mini cable (bought separately), and it's simple to view stunning HD photos and motion pictures. If you have a VIERA HDTV, you can control the camera's playback functions together with VIERA's remote control unit.The ZS3 packs a LEICA DC VARIO-ELMAR lens together with 12x optical zoom into a compact body. This flexible photographic tool lets you shoot everything from sweeping vistas at the 25mm wide-angle environment to dynamic 300mm telephoto shots. And the lens system's exquisite rendering capability lets you capture even the subtle nuances of the sights and scenes in your travels.

The only con is that their space-saving video format, AVCHD is not a very widely supported standard. The videos won't sync with iPhoto, for instance. You have to either use enormous MPEG video or manually copy the video files from the camera's SD card. Both formats look great, though, and it's nice that they have an option.

I decided to return this camera after spending a week with it on my vacation to Florida. I wanted to get a point and shoot with decent video recording. Those flip video HD cameras are nice and small, but no optical zoom, so I went with this instead. The video recording only worked half of the time. I kept getting errors saying the speed of my card was too slow and it would stop recording. I was using an 8gb Transcend class 6 sdhc card. Very disappointed.

This is an absolutely fabulous camera. I finally got around to purchasing it when it dipped below $240. The pictures are extremely detailed. Like many other posters have said, you can even zoom in while taking 720p HD video. I won't go on and on about features as many other posters have said that, but I did buy these accessories with the camera and they all go perfectly together.

This camera is an amazing one at that, it takes some pretty darn good pictures if i say so myself. it may just be the photogropher in this case me, but i think it has to do with the capabilities of this camera. 12x zoom and 10 MP equals great photos.!!!11
